

Besides his family and his profession, Herb was passionate about sailing, skiing and in his later years, golf. He did the Fugawi race from Hyannis to Nantucket for many years with his family and also did the more competitive Marion to Bermuda race four times on his boat, Fastacks. He loved tending to his garden and adored orchids in particular. He was a voracious reader and loved history. He was a car enthusiast, loved working with his hands and he approached every project with resolve and determination. Herb graduated from Boston Latin School, Harvard University and Case Western Reserve School of Dentistry. He did his residency in oral surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In addition to his office in Wayland, Herb had satellite dental offices in Uxbridge, Whitinsville and Cape Cod.
Herb is survived by his children, Kenneth Stacks of Portsmouth, R.I., and his daughter, Susan and her husband Don Fabricant, of Holliston, Mass., his adoring grandchildren Robbie and Keaton Stacks and Andrew and Max Fabricant, his devoted partner Sharon Yarlas of East Greenwich, R.I., and his sister-in-laws Leslie Stacks of Newton, Louise Brown of Wayland and Cindy Witte and her husband Bruce of Milford and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Arlene of 46 years, his brother Dr. Robert D. Stacks and his parents Ada (Schlosberg) and Nathan Stacks of Jamaica Plain, Mass.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 13th at 10 a.m. at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, followed by burial at Sharon Memorial Park.
Visiting hours at Walden Woods Community Center, One Walden Way, Milford on Thursday from 1-4 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. and continuing on Friday from 1-3 p.m.
