Fira was born on October 13, 1927 in Berdychiv, Ukraine. Daughter of Israel and Faina Dubinski, Fira moved to Moscow during her early childhood in support of her father’s work. In her early adolescence, she was, unfortunately, displaced to Kazan during the Nazi invasion of Russia. Upon her return within a year, she worked at an artillery factory to support war efforts against Germany, while attending high school classes in the evening. She went on to finish her graduate studies with excellence, earning a red diploma – the highest honor in the former Soviet Union – from one of Moscow’s finest economic institutes. She ascended to rank as a chief executive for Moscow’s central financial lender.
After rekindling a connection with a classmate from first grade, Fira married Arkadi Fradkin in 1952. Fira and Arkadi moved to Israel in 1994 to live with their eldest son and his family. After Arkadi’s untimely death in 2004, Fira immigrated to the U.S. in 2012 to be close to her children once more. Her greatest joys were always found in her family. She was kind, strong-willed, and brilliant. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will occur on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA at 10 AM and followed by interment at Sharon Memorial Park.
