Beloved husband of Barbara (Goldfarb) Offringa. Dear son of Adele (Highkal) and the late Allan Offringa. Devoted father of Reid and Lauren Offringa.
Loving brother of Allan Offringa of Rochester, MA, and Jane Offringa Rowan of New Town Square, PA.
Dr. Offringa served in Vietnam with the Army from March '68 to March '69 in both the 597th Transportation Company and 335th Assault Helicopter Company as a gunner on a UH-1H helicopter. He graduated from Boston University School of Social Work (1979) and the Boston Institute of Psychotherapy (1983), eventually obtaining his PhD in clinical psychology (1996). He worked as a psychotherapist in private practice until his diagnosis.
He was the man with a scotch and a story, ready to listen and happy to help. To sit next to him was to fall into his good graces and accidentally earn a selfless friend for life. Greg had a gift for understanding the human condition; he touched the lives of countless individuals.
Interment will be private.
A celebration of Gregory’s life will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Disabled American Veterans, www.DAV.org
