James H. Spevock of Swansea, previously of Sharon, MA, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025 at 87 years of age. Son of the late Eva J. (Findling) and David L. Spevock. Loving husband of Elaine (Salisbury) Spevock and the late Theresa M. Spevock. Beloved father of the late David Spevock.
Jim was born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 18, 1938. A graduate of the University of Buffalo, Jim spent most of his career as an executive in the retail drug chain industry. His career required several relocations from New York to Pennsylvania to Maryland and finally to Massachusetts. Jim initially settled in Sharon where he resided for a number of years before relocating to Swansea in 2006. An avid sports enthusiast, Jim grew up in an apartment across from the old Forbes Field in Pittsburgh. He would often reminisce about watching Roberto Clemente play and making pocket money as a boy by selling carnations to the Pirates fans as they entered the stadium. A passionate animal lover, Jim would start a conversation with anyone he met by asking if they had a dog before regaling them with stories about his beloved pets. Until health issues affected his mobility, neighbors could look forward to seeing him and his dog every single morning, rain or shine, going for their daily walk.
Jim’s long life included many challenges but was also filled with success, wonderful experiences and joy in the simple things. He will be greatly missed!
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 1 PM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon.
