Beloved life partner of 34 years of Dolores Bourque. Devoted father of Lauren (Earl Gray) and step-father of Gail Bourque (Alex Repetti), Lance Bourque (Susan Bourque), and Gwen Bourque (Zoltan Janosi). Loving brother of Adrienne Shargabian and the late Sheila Wolfson. Cherished grandfather of Julia and Ava Gray and step-grandfather of Uriel, Anais, and Remi Bourque. Dear uncle to Brent Fox (Glenda Fox) and Beth Labonte (Kevin Labonte). Former husband of Karin Kriegsman. Longtime mentor to Justin Cassie.
Marty was born in Boston to Harry and Belle Kriegsman in the winter of 1942. He went on to graduate from Northeastern University and excelled in his career as an electrical engineer. Among many accomplishments, he helped design the intra-aortic balloon pump used in open heart surgery. Marty’s hobbies included flying radio-controlled airplanes, operating a ham radio, playing musical instruments, and singing. He was also an excellent dancer. He loved to travel; some of his top destinations were Hawaii; Branson, MO; and Nashville, TN. He’d often reminisce about his favorite trip: a 1,200 mile motorcycle journey with Dolores from Lynn, MA to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Together, Marty and Dolores played in a band called the Flipside: Marty was on guitar and mandolin, Dolores played guitar and fiddle, and Don Harvey was on bass guitar. Marty very much enjoyed entertaining at nursing homes, assisted living residences, and at adult daycare facilities. He loved sharing joy with others.
Marty’s family is especially grateful for the kindness and caring of the staff at Cedar View Rehabilitation in Methuen.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 7th at 2:00 PM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington St., Canton, MA. Interment at Sharon Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Marty’s memory may be donated to the American Kidney Fund at kidneyfund.org
