Maurice G. Silverman of Boston, passed away peacefully on April 10th, 2025, at 95 years of age. Son of the late Henry and Sarah (Liberman) Silverman. Loving Husband of late Sylvia Claire. Beloved father of Jill Silverman-Gross and her husband Bill of Medway; Robyn Silverman and her husband Paul Bruck of Plum Island; and Michael Silverman and his wife Nancy of Kittery Point. Cherished grandfather of Leah Alexander and her husband Tom, Jackie Dolan and her husband Sean, Kyle Gross and his wife Lindsey, Dan Silverman, Haley Pratt and her husband Jordan Brown, Maggie Pratt and her husband Ben Rimmer. Loving Great Grandfather to Tommy, Niko and Tessa Alexander, Livia and Parker Dolan, Daisy Brown, and Charlie Rimmer.
Be it Sliv, Dad, Papa Uncle Maury, Uncle Slivy or Mr. Silverman, we all received the infamous million dollar smile, every time. It exuded warmth, along with a twinkle, and often some unexpected wit.Always a gentleman - in style: the slacks, polished shoes, Brylcreemed hair. Debonair: this must have attracted Sylvia, the “star” and love of his life. Together, they skated their way across dance floors and through their days, creating a marriage and family, opening their homes to all.
A “Prince Among Humanity”, Maurice, with quiet confidence, always chose the path of kindness. The greatest attraction was his sweet while sarcastic, kid-like, silly nature. Camp Slivy, the pool, the garage, the card table, the billiard room, the hidden snack… kids from near and far were drawn in. They felt honored, safe, adored and understood. They knew. Here was a guy, a so called “adult,” who ‘got it.” And, “get them” he did. A shared world of ice cream, cookies, chocolate, Chinese food, cartoons, sports . . . What else mattered? When with the “Prince,” everyone could rely on being carried back to the simplicity of childhood: playful, innocent, carefree . . .
Family will hold a closed Graveside Service on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Sharon Memorial Chapel, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a luncheon immediately following at 1:30 PM at the home of Leah & Tom Alexander.
