

Sherman Plotkin passed away peacefully at his Florida home on Saturday, February 4, 2017. He was 88 years old. Sherman was born in Winchendon, MA and spent his working life in Athol, MA where he carried on the family business in furniture retail with his brother Charles. He served in the U.S. Army and was an avid supporter of local and world philanthropies. He is survived by his long-time partner, Anita Gropper-Westin, his children – Ellen Smith of Wilbraham, MA, Douglas and Andrea Plotkin of Newton, MA, Philip Plotkin of West Palm Beach, FL, and James Plotkin of Boston, MA, as well as his grandchildren Rachel, Steven and Irina Smith, and Jared, Rani and Ethan Plotkin. He was predeceased by his wife, Selma Plotkin, originally of Worcester, MA, in 2003. A funeral service will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 1:30 PM followed by burial at Sharon Memorial Park. A reception will follow at the home of Douglas and Andrea Plotkin.
