David F Laursen (68) passed away January 27, 2024 surrounded by those who loved him. He was the eldest son of Alfred Laursen and Anna (Frost) Laursen and is survived by his brother Tom Laursen, sister-in-law Jayne Laursen, sister Carol Laursen, and brother-in-law Eric Coble. It is fortunate that he fully enjoyed being an uncle, because he was blessed with a wealth of nieces, Amber, Rachel, Heidi, Karen, Miranda, and Amaya, one nephew, Trevor, and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Hoover High in North Canton, Dave joined the army, learned Russian at the Monterey Language School and was stationed in Germany. After an honorable discharge, he briefly translated articles from the Russian newspaper Pravda before settling down to a long career with the postal service. After retirement he pursued two passions: raising Monarch butterflies, sometimes distributing the jade-colored chrysalis to those who would appreciate the miracle; and pickleball. At the end he wanted one more game.
A memorial service will be at 3:00 PM on February 18, 2024 located at First Friends Church in Canton. The family will receive guests an hour prior.
