E. Gay (Barley) Lindsay

Born May 9, 1935 in Roaring Spring, PA, she was the daughter of Russell and Mary Katherine (Over) Barley.

Gay graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 1958.

She spent the majority of her career as a nursing educator, first at the W. Howard Nicol (Cuyahoga Falls) school of Practical Nursing and then at various positions at Kent State University, retiring from the office of Regional Campuses.

Gay was a member of the Ohio Nurses Association and served as the president for 2 terms. She was a longtime member of St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church in Canton, Ohio and was a member of the vocal choir and later bell choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Thomas N. Lindsay; parents, Russell and Mary Barley; and brother, Gary Barley.

Gay is survived and will be deeply missed by her children, Scott Lindsay, Mary Jo Lindsay; her brothers, John (Marge) Barley, and Howard (Joanie) Barley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends.

A visitation for Gay will be held Monday, January 13, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church, 4600 Fulton Drive NW, Canton, OH 44718, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.

Gay will be laid to rest in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church for their music program.
