

Elmer Thomas Harrison, 88, of North Canton, went to be with the Lord on December 17, 2018. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in North Canton. He was an Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He had an early career as a bricklayer, followed by many years with the United States Postal Service. Elmer was a steady, reliable man, always ready to help, with an infectious smile, a twinkle in his eye, and a quick sense of humor.
Elmer enjoyed bridge, bowling, country music, and puzzles of all kinds. He was a generous family man who loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much, and got great joy from spending time with them and hearing about their activities.
Elmer was preceded in death by his wife Shirley (Kesper) Harrison, son James L. Harrison, sisters Rita Connelly and Mary Ann Gourley, and brothers, Carl, Donald, Richard, Paul, Harold, James Harrison Jr, and Leo. He is survived by his four children, John Harrison of Canton, OH, Judith Pozar of Amherst, MA, Jane Moore of Jones, AL, and Ronald Harrison of Jacksonville Beach FL, five grandchildren, Stephanie Leighty of FL, Teddi Jo House of Massillon, OH, Kati House of Louisville, OH, Michael Pozar of Kirkland, WA, and Benjamin Pozar of Philadelphia, PA, seven great-grandchildren, Ethan Leighty, Nevaiah Mayle, Carson Mayle, Lorianna Dalton, Khalanna Dalton, Charlie Pozar, and Amelia Pozar, and many other loving relatives and friends.
Friends and family may call Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. Services will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Marian Babjak officiating. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
