Evelyn M. Delamater, 85, of Canton passed away on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sept. 8, 1928 to the late James and Elizabeth Bower (Hughes). She married Charles E. Delamater on Sept. 22, 1950. Evelyn worked as a billing clerk and typist in Cleveland before starting a family and becoming a full-time wife and mother. She loved music and was a gifted singer and self-taught pianist. Evelyn sang in a number of church choirs, frequently performing as a soloist, and accompanied hymns and choral performances on the piano. She was a warm, caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Evelyn was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Fahey, and brother, James W. Bower.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, David Delamater of Pasadena, Calif.; daughter, Leslie Aitken of Altadena, Calif.; son, Thomas Delamater of North Canton, Ohio; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her brother, Stanley O. Bower of Willowick.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5-8pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
