

In the early morning hours of Monday December 7, 2015, Fred Lotze peacefully passed from this world at Stone Crossing Care Center in Canton, Ohio.
Born November 26, 1927, Fred, a longtime resident of Canton, was the son of the late William and Catherine (Roberts) Lotze. In 1956, he married his lifelong sweetheart, Pauline (Gardner/Lindon) Lotze who preceded him in death July 19, 2010. Also preceding him in death, sister, Sue Hull.
After graduating from Chaney High School in Youngstown, Ohio, Fred attended the School for the Blind in Columbus, Ohio where he learned to cane chairs and continued this trade for many years. Fred also worked in vending operations since 1949 through the Philomathean Society of the Blind. He was well known by many at his vendor stand in front of the Timken Company's Canton Bearing Plant which he operated December1973-March1995. On most days he would ride his 18 speed Schwinn bicycle more than 4 miles from his home to open the stand by 6am. His lifelong hobby was bicycles, collecting several over the years and using them as his main means of transportation. He was very much a 'people person' and enjoyed his lifelong associations through the Philomathean Society and John Knox Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by brother-in-law, Jerry Hull and several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday December 15 at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 5155 Eastlake St NW, North Canton 44720. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service (10-11am) at the church. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Garden following a luncheon at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Philomathean Society, 2701 Tuscarawas St W, Canton Ohio 44708, or John Knox Presbyterian Church. Arrangements under the direction of Karlo-Libby Funeral Home.
