James Richardson Dolph

Jim Dolph, 96, of Elmore, OH, died on Saturday, April 3, 2021.

Jim was born in Genoa on April 22,1924 to the late Aaron and Ethel (Stevens) Dolph. After graduating from Harris-Elmore High School, he immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific. After the war, he became the 4th generation owner of the family business, Dolph Oil Company, in Elmore. On June 29, 1946, Jim married Edna “Verdena” Wagner. During their 72 years together, they raised their family, traveled throughout the U.S. with the Avion Travelcade, and spent their winters in St. James City, FL volunteering at the American Legion, VFW, the Elks and Civic Club on Pine Island. Verdena preceded Jim in death on September 22, 2013. Jim was a proud Lifetime Member of the Ohio American Legion, Post 279, and the Florida VFW, Post 4353. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and life experiences with others.

Jim is survived by his children, Dennis (Susan) Dolph of Elmore and Pamela (Kermit) Miller of Walnut Creek, five grandchildren: Amy (Tim) Spieth, Aaron (Laurie) Dolph, Karrie (Brandon) Wood, Krystal (Nick) Hoffman, and Korrine Morrow; 10 great-grandchildren: Thomas, Peyton, and Jacob Spieth, Claire, Elaine and Kate Dolph, Aidan and Logan Wood, and Ethan and Eleanor Morrow; and sister, Mary Lou Luckey.

Along with his wife and parents, Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Dolph, and his sister, Nan Deitmeyer.

Per his wishes, a cremation will take place and he will be privately laid to rest at Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery.
