Keith graduated from Glenwood High School in 1964. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1964 to 1968. He retired from ZMC Inc., Koala Corp. He was a member of the Cascade Community Church in Akron, Ohio
He was a founding member and incorporator of the Unicorn Motorcycle Club in Cleveland, Ohio a nonprofit organization. He enjoyed animals and always had a dog or cat by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Terry W. Thayer.
He is survived by some of his cousins, especially Jon Newport of Montgomery, Alabama.
Pastor Robert Holland, of Cascade Community Church, will officiate a graveside memorial service at Sunset Hills Burial Park, 5001 Everhard Road NW, Canton, Ohio, 44718 on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be with full military honors.
