She was born January 24, 1922 in Canton, Ohio to the late Lester and Hattie (Steen) Harmon.
Mary worked as a nurse for many years at Aultman and Doctors Hospitals.
She is survived by her husband, George Chekan, Sr.; sons, Jim (Barb), Don (Diane), Karl (Ute), and step-son, George, Jr.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; four sisters, Juanita, Joan, Beverly, and Harriet; and her special family at Canterbury Villa.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call from 10-11am Friday, one hour before services at the funeral home.
