The beloved wife of Mile, Persa was born on June 16, 1936, in Oblakovo, Macedonia - a “village above the clouds,” where she spent much of her childhood before moving to Bitola. It was there that she met and married Mile on New Year’s Day, with whom she shared a remarkable 70 years of marriage and partnership.
As children of a generation that endured the German occupation, and the hardships of war, Persa and Mile developed a strength and resilience that defined their lives. With devotion, they built their first home together by hand, brick by brick.
In 1966, in pursuit of the American dream for her children, Persa immigrated to the United States with her family. She quickly transformed a house into a warm and welcoming home, filled with love and the rich aromas of her native cuisine. Persa embodied the true spirit of the Macedonian domakinka—a devoted homemaker and gracious hostess who cared deeply for her family and community.
For Persa, food was love. She coined the phrase “Home Made It,” and lived by it. She baked bread weekly, timing it so a fresh, warm loaf was ready the moment her family walked through the door. Renowned for her bread, as well as her zelnik and maznik, her cooking was eagerly anticipated by all who knew her.
A truly special and kind soul, Persa carried a quiet spark of the divine. Her faith was pure and unwavering, and she lived The Way with grace, compassion, and humility. She also had a joyful, playful spirit—she loved to sing, and did so freely, whether at home or even in Bitola’s town square.
Persa will be remembered above all as a devoted and selfless wife, mother, and grandmother. Her kindness, generosity, and boundless love touched all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she created and the life lessons she imparted through her example.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Mile; devoted daughter Nada (Glenn) Kutner; loving sons Peter Talevski and Stevan (Jill) Talevski; grandchildren Valentina, Michael, Mila, Maxim, and Simone; and many nieces and nephews near and far.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Apostol and Anca Veloff; brothers Vasil Veloff and Spiro Veloff; and sisters Trijanka Milenkovska and Donka Ognenovska.
