Robert Leo Barrett (Mike), aged 92 years, of North Canton, Ohio, peacefully passed away on February 22, 2018. He was born July 26, 1925 in Akron, Ohio to Leo and Marie Barrett. Mike graduated from East High School and Hamel Business College. Mr. Barrett served his country with the U.S. Navy in World War II. He worked at Bearings Inc. for over 40 years, where he earned 5 Presidential Awards. Mr. Barrett was an active member of Saint Paul's Catholic Church, where he served as a Board Member, Eucharistic Minister, and Liturgical Minister. He also served as Committee Chairman of Troops 1 and 11 of the Boy Scouts of America.
Mike is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jane Ann (Butcher). He also left behind his son, Michael (Julie) Barrett of Greer, SC, his daughter, Patricia (James) Fletcher of Dublin, OH, and his son David (Melanie) Barrett of Cumming, GA. He was known as "Papa" to grandchildren, Megan Fletcher, Erik (Heather) Fletcher, Andrew (Diana) Barrett, Colin Barrett, Erin (Jason Davenport) Riley, and Lauren (Neal) White. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Kensington, Kerrigan, and Anderson Barrett, Barrett Fletcher, Norah and Katie Davenport, and Devin and Connor White.
R.L., Bob, Mike, Barrett, Dad, Papa, or whatever else he was called, was loved and loved beyond measure. He had a fantastic sense of humor and was always ready to entertain his "audience" with his infectious laughter and smile.
Calling hours will be held at the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 25, 2018. A mass, in memoriam of Mr. Barrett's life, will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Saint Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that a donation be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mercy Hospice and Mercy Medical Center.
