

He was born November 24, 1936 in Alliance, Ohio and lived in Canton since 1962. He was the son of the late Walter and Mabel Kropf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ralph Kropf. Eldon graduated from Alliance High School in 1954 and was a graduate of the University of Mount Union in 1959 where he earned a Bachelor of Music Education Degree. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Eldon taught instrumental music in the Canton City Schools and retired in 1989 after 30 years. He was also a life member of OEA. Eldon was an accomplished musician playing trumpet in the Youngstown and Canton Symphony, Front Row Theater in Cleveland, EJ Thomas in Akron, Coliseum in Richfield and several bands in the Alliance, Akron, Cleveland and Canton area.
Eldon is survived by his wife Carol of 64 years. His children, Michelle (Bob), Brent, Brian (Lori). His grandchildren, Grant (Holly), Meg, Spencer, Alex, Alison, Katelyn and Lauren. He enjoyed spending time with his family and taking yearly vacations to Sanibel Island, in addition to wintering with his wife in Sun City the past 19 years.
Funeral services will be held at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home at 5000 Everhard Road NW Canton, Ohio 44718 on Friday March 15, 2024. Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. with a service immediately following. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army at www.salvationarmy.org.
