Ben W. Brewer

Mr. Brewer passed away November 10, 2016 in Rowlett. He was born April 26, 1928, in Ben Wheeler to Charlie Crow Brewer and Lola Elizabeth West Brewer.

Ben was a Presbyterian by faith and also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He grew up on a cotton farm in Ben Wheeler. While in the US Navy, Mr. Brewer served on the destroyer escort USS Grady and USS G.A. Johnson. On January 2, 1954 Ben married Dorothy Beckman in Portland, Oregon. He had a 40 year career with Southwestern Bell and AT&T. He even worked in telecommunications with NASA in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Ben enjoyed travelling to all 50 states, talking about stocks and politics, reading the Bible and playing dominoes. He was always there for his family and super proud of his granddaughter.

Mr. Brewer is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Douglas Brewer, and two infant sons: David Brice and James Randall Brewer.

Ben is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jean Brewer of Rockwall; daughter and her husband, Deborah and James Cook of Plano; and 4 grandchildren: Victoria Nicole, Larry, Jeffrey and Christopher Cook.

The family will receive friends 12 - 2 pm Sunday, November 13, 2016, at the funeral home.
