

Billy John Welk, 84, of Sherman, Texas passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, in Winnsboro, Texas. He was born on February 11, 1941, in Garland, Texas to Burland Joy Welk and Audrey Helen Dowdy Welk.
A visitation to celebrate the life of Bill will be held at 10:30 on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Eubank Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Edom Cemetery at 12:00 p.m.
Bill grew up in Sunnyvale, Texas. He was a dedicated police officer for 25 years. His extended career included working at Dallas County, Smith County Sheriff's office and Smith County DA's office and Van Zandt County Sheriff's office. Bill married his beloved, Dyanne, on August 19, 1978, the couple had 46 wonderful years together at her passing in 2023. Bill lived in Ben Wheeler, Texas for many years and was a member of Heritage Trail Cowboy Church. Bill enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, he could be found many times at the local diner in Martins Mill playing and singing to the crowd. Bill loved time on his cattle farm and traveling.
Bill is preceded in death by his father, Burland Welk; mother, Audrey Welk Tharp; stepfather, V. C. Tharp; beloved wife, Dyanne Welk.
He is survived by his daughters: Teresa Fields, Kim Lascano and husband, Abel, Deanna Elkins and husband, Evan; grandchildren: Lauren, Lisa, Rachel, Jeffrey, Mason, Aaron, Phillip, Emily and Meagan; 10 great grandchildren; siblings: Bruce Welk, Danny Tharp, Sue Hicks and Kathy Tharp; numerous other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that you donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Bill’s honor.
