Carl Brooks Jr.

Services for Carl Brooks, Jr., 87, of Mesquite, will be held 11 am Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Oates Drive Baptist Church in Mesquite with Bro. Jim Burt officiating. Interment will be at New Harmony Cemetery near Van, TX at 2 pm.

Mr. Brooks passed away April 15, 2026 in Mesquite. He was born October 14, 1938 in McKinney to Willis Carl Brooks, Sr. and Bertie Foster Brooks.

Carl was a member of Casa View Baptist for 10 years before joining Oates Drive Baptist Church, where he had been for many years.

Carl grew up in Mckinney where he graduated high school. He went to North Texas University and served in the US Air Force. Carl married Frances Huddle on March 22, 1963. They made their home in Mesquite, living in the same home since 1963. Carl enjoyed working at International Harvester for 17 years, but he loved being self-employed. He loved gardening, driving through the countryside, taking vacations and driving through scenic roads, especially the mountains. He also enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers. Carl was a devoted husband who loved taking care of Frances!

Mr. Brooks is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Bertie Brooks, and several aunts and uncles.

Carl is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Brooks; daughter, Cindy Brooks and Edward Rogers; daughter, Julie and James Fierro; son, Michael Carl Brooks; seven grandchildren: John Phelps and Ashley, Jennifer Brooks, Samantha Brooks, Drew Fierro, Abby Fierro, William Brooks and Jackie Brooks; four great-grandchildren: Drake Phelps, Lily Barnett, Rory McAnally and Maddison McAnally; and his beloved dog, Ollie.

Pallbearers will be John Phelps, Drew Fierro, Todd Huddle, Scott Huddle, Kerry Huddle, William Brooks and Jackie Brooks.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
