

A Celebration of Life service for Eva “LaVerne” Haptonstall, 90, of Grand Saline, Texas will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, 11:00 am, at Eubank Funeral Home, Bro. Mark Parkerson and Mark Comis officiating.
LaVerne went home to the Lord on August 23, 2024 in Grand Saline. She was born on April 12, 1934 in Edgewood, Texas to James Elijah Parkerson and Velma Virginia Legal Parkerson.
On June 20, 1951, she married her true love, Charles Leo Haptonstall, together the couple raised a beautiful family and had 52 wonderful years at his passing.
LaVerne was a stay at home mom for many years before returning to school to become a nurse. She graduated Tyler Junior College Nursing School in August of 1975. After passing her licensing examination, she became a Licensed Vocational Nurse in October of 1975. LaVerne was a nurse in obstetrics and delivery at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler and in the cardiac care unit at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. She finished her nursing career at Azalea Trail Nursing Home in Grand Saline before retiring.
LaVerne was an accomplished pianist. She taught piano and was the pianist for two local churches. The family learned to sing, gathered around her at the piano. She loved to host family get-togethers, insisting on cooking Thanksgiving dinners for as long as she was able. Holiday gatherings were always a favorite. The things she loved most in life was to have her family gathered together.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Velma Parkerson; beloved husband, Charles Leo Haptonstall; son, Brett Lee Haptonstall; grandson, Brian Keith Miller; brothers, DeRoyce Parkerson and Johnny Parkerson; sisters, Christine Smith, Virginia Flanagan, Glo Herron and Bonnie Oakley.
LaVerne Is survived by her children: Karen and Joel Taylor of Tyler, TX, Debra and Mark Comis of Hideaway, TX; Jeffrey Haptonstall of Grass Valley, CA, Laura Wages of Grand Saline, TX; daughter in-law, Betty Haptonstall of Wills Point, TX; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy and Glenda Parkerson of Fruitvale, TX; sister, Brenda Thomas of Grand Saline.
Pallbearers: Joel Taylor, Mark Comis, Alen Wells, Stephen Wells, Brad Miller, Brandon Haptonstall.
Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery in Grand Saline, Texas.
