Gerald Wayne Cottrell Jr.

Gerald Wayne Cottrell Jr., age 60, of Mabank, Texas passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026 at home. He was born on April 26, 1965, in Dallas, Texas, to Gerald Wayne Cottrell Sr. and Mary S. Taylor Cottrell. Gerald was a hard-working and thoughtful man whose steady presence and friendship were felt by many.

Gerald grew up in the Mabank area and graduated from Mabank High School, class of 1983. He was Christian by faith and had attended Central Baptist Church.

Gerald devoted much of his life to service, spending 22 plus years in the Army. After retirement from the Army, he continued serving his community working as a mail carrier at the Mabank Postal Office for many years. Gerald was also involved in his parents' bus tour business and was loved by all the patrons traveling on the bus.

Gerald enjoyed doing yardwork and was always ready and willing to help a friend with any project. He made friendship everywhere he went, and many of those friendships became lifetime bonds—classmates, army buddies, and postal workers alike.

Visitation will be held at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, Texas 75103, on April 8, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, Texas, on April 9, 2026, at 4:00 pm.

Gerald is preceded in death by his grandparents: Jonnes and Irene Cottrell and Marshall and Mary Taylor.

He is survived by his parents, Gerald Sr. and Mary Cottrell; Cousins: Argie Stuart, Angie Steinhofer, Tony Cottrell, Randy and Denise Taylor, Scott and Annette Taylor, Julie Key, Donny and Judy Jackson, Bruce Malim; Blaine Milam and Joyce; Dear Friend, Melody; The Hipp Girls: Ginger, Cindy and Rhonda; The twins, James and Jesse Wright; friends, Dennis Bolt and Dennis Alphin; the Mabank High School Class of 1983; Military buddies; Post Office buddies; Jojo the dog and Okie the cat; a multitude of other family and friends.

The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice and Providence Park for the loving care they gave to Gerald.
