

Jackie graduated from Van High School in 1956. He entered the Army and served in several posts including Germany. He remained in reserve status and was formally discharged in 1969. After active duty, he attended North Texas State University (now University of North Texas) and later graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Abilene Christian becoming the first member of his immediate family to get a college degree.
Jackie continued his life of service by joining the Dallas Police Force in 1965. A resident of Mesquite, Texas for more than 50 years, Jackie retired from the Dallas Police in 1992 and spent several years working as a private investigator. An avid gun collector, Jackie maintained his qualifications with target accuracy that belied his advancing years.
Jackie Earl, to his family, is preceded in death by his parents Clovis and Earl Clower, brother James Clower, sisters Janice Bynum and Wanda Wilson, and the love of his life, wife Melinda Clower.
Survivors include his son John, daughter-in-law Mari, and grandson Max of Novato, California; his close cousin Greta Owens of Jacksboro; brother-in-law Wayne Wilson of Dallas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other friends and family.
A celebration of Jackie’s life for family and friends will be held in spring 2025.
