

Services for James "Jimmy" R. Cox, 87, of Edgewood, are scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Glen Goodson officiating. Interment will be at Starr Cemetery.
Jimmy passed away December 2, 2024 in Canton at home. He was born November 13, 1937 to James Aulton and Martha Ioma Hunter Cox.
Jimmy grew up in the Willow Springs Community and attended school there. He transferred to Edgewood I.S.D. for high school.
He loved and had a passion for hunting, fishing, dominoes, and playing baseball. Jimmy played on a team called the "Over the Hill Gang" and they played almost every weekend.
He was an avid farmer working alongside his father. They grew tomatoes and sweet potatoes and were a part of the Co-Op. Later he would raise cattle and he loved having a garden. He loved driving the roads and visiting with friends.
Jimmy worked as a groundskeeper at the Van Zandt Country Club from 1985 to 2000.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Aulton and Ioma Cox, brother, Larry Cox and wife Fairrie; brother-in-law, Don Davis; and special friend, Merlene Thorn.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey and Sherry Cox; grandson, Cooper and Robianne Cox; grandson, Chase Cox; great-grandson, Bronson Cox; sister, Linda Cox Davis; and niece and caregiver, Vicki Cox Goodson. He also leaves behind nieces Tammy Roy and Dana Whitus, nephews Wayne Cox, and Donny Davis and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Cox, Tony Burke, J.R. Davidson, Eric Tidwell, Donny Davis, Danny Morris and Steve Prow.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
