Jimmy Ray Taylor

Interment will be at Old Bethel Cemetery in Canton, TX.

Jimmy passed away September 18, 2016, in Tyler, TX.

He was born September 21, 1940, in Pauls Valley, OK to John Fletcher and Ruth Ozell Taylor.

Jimmy grew up and attended school in Pauls Valley, OK. He joined the Air Force and served as a Military Policeman. He married on November 22, 1961, and moved to Dallas where he was employed at Dallas Power and Light for 36 years. He retired to Pray, Montana for several years before moving to Canton in 2000. Jimmy loved softball and played well into his 50’s even sometimes playing with broken bones. He also enjoyed genealogy, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers and was a UT fan. Jimmy loved his family and friends and there was nothing that he would not do for them. He attended Oak Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his Wife, Terry Taylor of Canton, TX; Daughter and Son-in-law, Carla and Randy Grimes of Athens, TX; Daughter and Son-in-law, Misty and Joel Harris of Morton, MS; Son and Daughter-in-law, Chris and Christi Taylor of Lake Dallas, TX; Daughter, Kristi Pepper of Athens, TX; 13 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren and 8 Brothers and Sisters.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents and 15 brothers and sisters.
