Services for Joe Bob Wycough, 71, of Canton, will be held 2 pm Friday, January 30, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Canton with Pastor Mike Roberson officiating. Interment will be in Haven of Memories under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home.
Joe Bob passed away January 28, 2026 at his home. He was born November 15, 1954 in Athens to Eldred Eugene and Jimmie Lou Woolverton Wycough.
Joe Bob was raised on a farm alongside his three siblings. They were a little mischievous, down-to-earth, and full of fun-loving energy, learning early the values of hard work, family, and faith. He cherished his mama, daddy, and siblings, and carried those lessons of love and diligence with him throughout his life.
Joe Bob attended Canton High School, where he met the love of his life, Jan. Just two weeks after Jan graduated high school, they were married—a decision Joe Bob never doubted. He often told her, “Next to Jesus Christ, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me.” Joe Bob and Jan loved Jesus and shared a truly remarkable love-story marriage. Their life together was full of hard work, not always perfect, but always marked by true and enduring love.
Shorty, Jan’s father helped Joe Bob begin his career in the oil field at the age of 18. Through determination and an unmatched work ethic, Joe Bob built a successful career, eventually retiring as Vice President of Operations for ADTI. Never one to sit still, Joe Bob returned to work on land rigs in West Texas before retiring again in 2021. Although Joe Bob’s career was successful, it did not define him; rather, it allowed him to be a witness to those he worked with, sharing his values, faith, and integrity every day.
When Joe Bob wasn’t working on the rigs, he was working the farm—always with Jan by his side—instilling strong values and a tireless work ethic in their children, Jake, Justin, and Jenny. God continued to bless Joe Bob and Jan as their family grew, welcoming daughters-in-law Danielle and Torjie, and son-in-law Chad.
As the family expanded, Joe Bob discovered a new and profound joy in being a grandfather and great-grandfather. Known lovingly as “Big Daddy,” he embraced this role wholeheartedly. His grandchildren could do no wrong in his eyes, and he delighted in spoiling them at every opportunity.
Joe Bob loved big, led with love, and guided his family with both a firm hand and a faithful heart. In return, Jan, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren loved him beyond measure. Everyone knew Joe Bob was in charge—but always with kindness and devotion. Today, Joe Bob is residing with Jesus, reunited with his grandson Kyle, and basking in God’s glory.
Joe Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Eldred and Jimmie Lou Wycough; sister, Shirley Roseboom; and grandson, Kyle Rush.
Joe Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Jan Wycough; two sons: Jake and Danielle Wycough and Justin and Torjie Wycough; daughter, Jenny and Chad Rush; nine grandchildren: Callie and David Gonzales, Ethan and Leah Simmons, Garrett and Ashley Wycough, Shelby and Justin Taylor, Chisum Wycough and Jaylan Mackinnon; Katy Beth Rush, Kyle Rush, Hudson Wycough and Hope Wycough; Maddie and Gabbie whom he loved like his own: eight great-grandchildren Braelynn, Finley, Gannon, Kylan, Millie, Brandon, Kacey and Walker; brother, Don Wycough; sister, Sandra Dunlap; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
