Johnny went home to be with his Lord on April 16, 2021 in Tyler, Texas. He was born on December 16, 1943 in Ben Wheeler, Texas to Nolan Rudolph Cantrell and Nora Geneva Ayers Cantrell.
Johnny graduated from John Tyler High School. On June 6, 1963 he married his true love, Carolyn Gail Browning. They had 57 wonderful years together. Johnny was a member of First Baptist Church in Canton and was a deacon for many years. You could always find him helping around the church. When he wasn’t working you could find him fixing and building things around the house. Johnny worked as an elevator tech for over 34 years at ESCO Elevators. He enjoyed fishing and anything outdoors. Johnny always looked out for his neighbors, helping them with any project they were doing. He was a hard and honest working man. He loved his Lord and his family. Johnny was always bigger than life. He leaves an empty place in the hearts of all that knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Geneva Cantrell; sisters, Shirley Smith and Kay Brown.
Johnny is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Cantrell; sons, Macky and Angie Cantrell, Ronald and Heidi Cantrell and Bryan Cantrell; grandchildren, Krista Barnes and husband, Marcus, Kaleb Cantrell and wife, Rachel; Christina Marshall and husband, Shawn , Emily Eberenz and husband, Colton, Gracie Cantrell; Averie Cantrell, Favor Cantrell, Cole Cantrell, Moses Cantrell; great grandchildren, Addison and Grayson Barnes, Kennedy Cantrell; Annabelle Marshall, Luxe Eberenz and two precious babies on the way.
A visitation will be held Monday, April 19, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Interment will be at Haven of Memories Cemetery.
