She was born on October 21, 1942, in upstate New York and filled a life with a lot of hard work, commitment to service others, and a load of love for her family. She had an infectious smile and an attitude to always keep one happy and joyful. There was never a dull moment if Layne was around. If the group was quiet, Layne would get it going in a good way, as many would say.
Layne had an illustrious career as a nurse, even when her husband took her to different parts of the USA, which he did a lot through the years. She even worked for a medical insurance company. She was a GREAT wife and mother to her kids all the time. As she states may times, a lot of the neighbor’s children would end up in our yard, which was great as w always knew where our kids were.
Layne leaves behind her loving husband of 56 years, Arnold DeSandre. Her legacy continues through her children: Daniel (Stephanie) DeSandre of Wylie, Texas and Larry Lockhart of Murchison, Texas. She also held a deep love for her family and friends. She did a lot as a Surgery Nurse for many years and with being a Deputy Sheriff, she inspired all that knew her. Layne was a sharp shooter for the Sheriff’s Office, the only one who had permission to “shoot them in the back, then put them back together” What an honor!
