Maefayr Hooton

Maefayr Mitchell Hooton 89. Maefayr was born on May 21, 1927 in Martins Mill, Texas and passed away December 28, 2016. Maefayr graduated from Martins Mill High School and attend Texas State College for Women (now TWU) until she met and married the love of her life Sherrill Aubrey Hooton.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Sherrill Aubrey Hooton, parents, Verbie Selke and Richard Lucien Mitchell, siblings Tom Prestridge, Helen Barber, Leon Mitchell, DD Mitchell, and Lucien Mitchell

She is survived by her children Richard Lucien Hooton and Sherri Hooton Doss. Grandchildren: Jon Hooton, Shelby Hooton, Bryce Doss and Baylen Doss. She was known as Aunt Polly to her nieces: Gwen Mitchell, Jeannine Morris, Jacquelyn Thompson and nephews: Errol Barber, Gerald Mitchell, David Barber and Steve Mitchell. She is also survived 16 great nieces and nephews and their families.

Maefayr was passionate about two things, her family and Martins Mill. She was instrumental in helping create the picture wall of history at the Martins Mill store and researching and requesting for several of the historical markers in the Martins Mill area and spent countless hours helping and working with the Holly Springs Cemetery Board.
