

Nelda passed away peacefully on June 8, 2020, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on January 6, 1942, in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Albert Kimbrough and Christine Attaway Kimbrough.
Nelda grew up in Mesquite and graduated from Mesquite High School in 1960. On January 30, 1960, she married her true love, Robert Young. They were married 53 years upon his passing. Nelda went on to earn her Master's Degree and majored in English and Math. She taught for many years at Eustace High School as well as Forney High School where she was also a school counselor. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Forney for many years until moving to Canton where she joined the First Baptist Church of Canton. She was also an associate member of Terrell First Baptist Church. Nelda enjoyed crafts of all kinds, including, painting, sewing, scrapbooking and most of all quilting. She was a member of the Whitton Quilting Club for many years. When not quilting or involved in other crafts, she enjoyed doing ancestry and genealogy. Nelda loved spending time with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Nelda is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Sarah and George Parrish; Daughters-in-law, Ticoy Young and Christine Beavers; Grandchildren, Adam Young, Zane Young, Paige Foreman, Christina Miller, Allison Parrish and Hannah Young; Great Grandchildren, Lucas Miller, Landry Young, Ben Young and Holden Young; Sister, Carolyn Bates; Sister and Brother in-law, Judy and Gary Mallett; Brother and Sister-in-law, Gale and Vickie Kimbrough and Sister, Paula Applegate; many nieces, nephews and her 'German Children', Felix and Pia Loose and Katharina Etzdorf.
Nelda is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Young; sons, Lynn Young and Carey Young.
Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2020 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Haven of Memories in Canton, Texas.
