Patsy Ruth Franklin (loving referred to as Pat or Mamaw) was born to Asmund and Willie Hall June 28, 1941, in Edom Texas. She attended school in Brownsboro.
Pat was preceded in death by her mother and dad, Asmund and Willie Hall: brother, John Hall; sister, Dorothy Jean Hall; sister, Jo Ann Tyner; sister, Linda Anderson.
Pat has three loving children that she cherished: Sherry Chamblee – husband, James of Murchison,
Brenda Simpson – husband, Randell Simpson of Ben Wheeler and Calvin Franklin – wife, Sherry of Ben Wheeler. Pat’s grandchildren are: Sandy Cerda, Randy Simpson and wife, Jessica, Brandon Franklin and wife, Eryn, Kayla Gore, Brittany Franklin, Matthew Smith and Hunter Harris: She has eight great-grandchildren that were the love of her life.
Pat was raised by a loving mother and dad that taught her GOD first, Family second and work third. As a young girl Pat worked with her dad and mother on their farm growing crops. She learned from her parents how to be a hard worker and a loving person.
Her passion in life was her children and grandchildren. She cherished the time that she spent with them. She passed onto her Children the same values that her parents instilled in her. You have to work hard in life to have anything. Pat worked in upholstery, she started as a seamstress of clothes and realized that upholstering was her calling, and she was the best. She worked at Phantom Boats and then ventured out on her own and started her own business, Pat’s Upholstery, she retired in 2003.
Pat (Mamaw) loved her children and grandchildren, she was like a mamma bear, you could do what you want to her but don’t mess with her family. She would take action. She always tried to do what she could to help and to make life good for them. She made dinosaur chairs, video game chairs whatever was on the Christmas list. Every Christmas Day, she would get up and drive wherever the grandkids were to see their toys from Santa. It took her all day, but she loved every minute of it.
Her passion was yard sales and working on things to make them pretty or work if broken, she was so very good at this. The most common saying in our family if we needed something fixed or felt sick, “call Mamaw”. She was famous for her hot sauce, onion rings and pecan pie. She loved being outside repotting plants, decorating her yard, sitting on the front porch just drinking coffee and reminiscing about her life, and the stories she could tell. She loved going to her great-grandchildren’s games, riding her golf cart, decorating at Christmas and Fireworks. But, the time she cherished most is going to town and yard sales with her girls and sitting on the front porch with her son.
A visitation will be held Monday, July 3, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Holly Springs Cemetery in Van Zandt County.
