A Funeral service will be held for Peggy Corley Gurley, 83, of Walton Community at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2020 in the chapel at Eubank Funeral Home with Bill Gurley and Pastor Billy Gurley, Jr., officiating.
Peggy, beloved wife and mother, returned to her heavenly father on Sunday, October 11, 2020 in Tyler, Texas. She was born on July 20, 1937 in the Phalba Community to Miles Lecil Corley and Rosa Leota Jackson Corley.
She was a member of the County Line Baptist Church but attended China Grove Baptist Church. Peggy’s favorite Bible verses were John 3:16 and Psalms 46:10. She graduated from Athens High School. Directly out of school she went to work for the Employers Casualty Company and The Company Credit Union for 35 years before retiring. Peggy’s favorite vacation places was the Northern California and Oregon Coast where her and her sister, Hazel searched for sea glass, sea shells and small pieces of driftwood. Peggy loved riding horses, water and snow skiing, baseball and volleyball. But most of all she loved her family; John, Twila, Charley and all her extended family. She loved to laugh, tease and debate (otherwise known as argue) and she could embellish any story for the good or bad.
As Pooh Bear told Piglet, "If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me in your heart, I'll stay there forever." Love, Peggy
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Miles Lecil and Rosie Leota Jackson Corley; three brothers, Rev. William A Corley, F. A. Corley and Richard Corley.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John H. Gurley of Walton Community; Daughter Twila and son in-law, Charley Reynaud also of Walton Community; Four adopted grandchildren, Brandon, Leigha, Clay, Haleigh; seven adopted great grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Montgomery, Joan and Donnie Hutchinson; two sisters in-law, Ruby Corley and Virginia Corley; numerous nieces and nephews.
