Bernice A. Smith

Bernice A. Smith, 79, of Cape Coral, FL passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Smith was born February 23, 1931 in Bridgeport, CT, a daughter of the late Andrew J. and Eunice Decker Smith. She was a marine's wife and followed her husband to Rochester, NY, where he graduated from Divinity School as an Episcopal Priest. A Registered Nurse, Bernice and her husband moved to the Bahamas and she became the Nurse Practitioner for a State Clinic in Abaco, Bahamas. They returned to the US in 1990 and resided in N. Fort Myers and later to Cape Coral. She was very active in community affairs at Lake Arrowhead in N. Fort Myers, FL.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rev. Donald H. Smith of N. Fort. Myers; his children, Bonie Doell of Sarasota, FL, Michael Smith of Ontario, NY, Karen McIntosh of Green Turtle Key, Bahamas and Patricia Burns of Webster, NY; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; her sister, Lois Feldmann of N. Fort Myers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 3:00PM at All Souls Episcopal Church, 14640 N. Cleveland Ave., N. Fort Myers, FL 33903.
