Bette-Jane, you are my very special sister, friend, and fill-in “mom.”  I met you when I was a naïve and young eighteen year old.  You and Jack were so kind and wonderful to me.  I stayed with you while my husband was on deployment.  You were there as my surrogate mother when Debbie was born.  We always have written lots of letters to each other through the years.  You both came to Maine from Pennsylvania and then followed us to Florida.  I’ll always have great memories of the get-to-gethers and BBQ’s at the motel.  Bette-Jane, you will never know how many lives you have touched.  All the Left Behind Series books and tracts you passed out. Only eternity will show the results.  I am thinking here about all the piggy banks, the teddy bears, and the palm tree collections.  You had such fun collecting them!  You were a dynamo at Publix for many years.  Everywhere you went you spread sunshine, always there to be a friend or to love and encourage someone.  Your hubby, kids, and family were so blessed to have such a caring and loving mom.  I remember everywhere you lived you always had a bunch of boxes going to this one’s and that one’s house.  For me, Gladys, the kids, neighbors, etc, always going the extra mile.  Thanks so much for the last “6” years when you came up so many times to visit me when I had Grandpie.  We laughed and laughed.  Played lots of Hand & Foot.  You always had my “back!”  What a joy it has been to have you in my life!  I’m so very sad as I write this but very thankful that you are out of that body of pain and sickness and in the arms of Jesus.  I know without a shadow of a doubt that you are in the galleries of Heaven (Hebrews 11), cheering us on in the race of life.  We have God’s promise that when we ask Jesus to be our Savior and really mean business with God, it is a done deal.  We know, that we know, that we will see each other someday!! For you—Bette-Jane—it is not the end, but the beginning!!  See you soon.

We teased you so much over the years when you were planning for this day... And boy did you plan for this day ... You were always saying things like; "This is the last washing machine I will buy so I bought the one I really wanted." Or "When I'm gone I want you to have this. "Jack!" Don't forget Janelle gets the clock." We all would laugh and tease you, but we never dreamed the day would really come that my Ping would really be an angel in Heaven. I will miss you so much and will never forget all that you did for me or how close we were. I will treasure all the memories that we shared. I still can hear you running around the motel so busy singing "Meres eat oats." Or when I finally realized what the song really said! I know you are singing in Heaven! Boy, did you love to sing! I know if you have it your way, you are already working at a Publix. Heaven wouldn't be Heaven for you if there wasn't a Publix! I will forever miss my "cute little chubby grandma!" Aunt Bette Jane, where do I start, so many memories, visiting you in at your house in Maine to see Shawn, visting you in Okeechobee at the motel, you visiting us here in Gainesville. many nights of playing hand and foot,   You and my mom fussing at Uncle Jack and my Dad for calling you and mom "fatty legs",  all of us girls sitting around the table eating angel food cake with chocolate icing,  You were always there for my family and I will never forget that.  There is one good thing though, I know I will see you again, John 14:2-3 and 14:6 say; "In my Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go to prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.  Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but through me."  It is only because of God's promises in His word that I know I will see you again.
