She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl L. Peterson, M.D. (1991), Margaret M. Peterson (2006), and her sister, Diane Wilson (2024).
Christine is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, James Gargiula; her loving children, James P. Gargiula, Michael (Tracey) Gargiula, and Joan (Jeff) Richards; her cherished grandchildren, Kate Gargiula, Lauren Gargiula, Kelly Gargiula, Kendal Gargiula, Megan Richards, Mark Richards, and Scott Richards; and her beloved siblings, Earl “Pete” (Maureen) Peterson and Joan (Angelo) Licata.
Growing up on Long Island, Christine was drawn to the water—boating, water skiing, and fishing were among her favorite pastimes. As the eldest of four siblings, she naturally developed her nurturing and caring spirit from a young age. She attended Hofstra College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1962. It was there that she met the love of her life, Jim Gargiula, with whom she shared a blessed and joy-filled marriage of over six decades.
A resident of Cape Coral since 1973, Christine will be remembered by all who knew her as a caring and generous woman of great integrity, with a servant’s heart. She loved the Florida paradise she called home and helped countless others find theirs as well through her many years of dedicated service in real estate.
Affectionately known as “Kiki” by her seven grandchildren, Christine embodied her Catholic faith with devotion and humility. She found profound joy in attending Mass and held deep reverence for the Holy Eucharist throughout her life. For many years, she served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Andrew Catholic Church—a gift that came full circle when she received the Eucharist at home during her later years.
Christine faced her cognitive decline with grace, courage, and unwavering gratitude for the blessings of her life. She never complained and continually gave thanks to God for the goodness she experienced.
