

Daniel “DOG” Dobbins, 58 of Matlacha, Florida passed away on July 8, 2015 at home. He was born on May 16, 1957 in Barberton, Ohio to Dobby and Beverly Dobbins. Daniel was a resident of Lee County for over 50 years. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball and swimming. He placed 1st in the State of Florida for the backstroke. Dog attended local schools, owned several local businesses, was a fisherman, a shrimper and a pirate. He was involved in, and supported, several community groups in Matlacha/Pine Island, was a founding member of CornBread Mafia and silently adopted and supported many local youth along his journey.
Survived by his loving family including his wife, Sharon Flanagan Dobbins; mother, Beverly Dobbins; brother, David Dobbins; step-children: Matthew Sawyer, Meaghan Kinzle, Kahleigh Travis, Cody Sawyer, Shaehmus Sawyer, Shawn Sawyer, Corbin & Hogan Downer; son, Timothy Dobbins; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews: Lucas & Leanor Dobbins, Lisa Dobbins Slivinski; several great nieces and nephews. Daniel is preceded in death by his father, Dobby in 1998, and his brother Russ, in 2004; nephews, Dale in 1990 and Keith in 2010.
Memorial Services will be at 1:00 pm on August 1, 2015 at Pine Island Community Church, 5320 Doug Taylor Circle, St. James City, FL 33956, with Pastor Heidi Rene' Grueser officiating. Immediately following please meet at the Olde Fish House Marina & Restaurant, 4530 Pine Island Road, Matlacha, FL 33993, for continued celebration for Dog, his family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Pine Island Community Church/CornBread Mafia to assist the Matlacha and Pine Island Community.
