I met Charlie in Santa Barbara when he was going to Brooks. I’m another one of the group from the 70s in SB.  Many, many times of fun w all of us was had!  Great memories from those days …. I was lucky to be included in phone calls, not to long ago, that Bruce ( one of the SB group) hooked us up on Google Duo & that was the 1st time I’d seen Charlie in 45 years!  Such a treat!!
He’d had quite an adventurous life after Brooks & I loved hearing what he had done w his life.  Such  a wonderful guy & he is missed by all of us.

My name is Katie Turner. I met Chuck in Santa Barbara, California during the 70’s. There was a group of us who all hung out together. We are all now in our 70’s. When I talk about “back in the day”, the 70’s & that group, including Chuck, was really IT! From disco dancing til the sun rose to partying hardy during Fiesta … Chuck was always a part of it. You’re in my heart ❤️ Bro!

Chuck has been a friend of mine since I moved in a few houses down from him as a 10 year old. He had watched me grow up, sharing stories of the many adventures he had been on the whole way. Tonight, as a now 22 year-old, I poured a glass of Scotch in his honor. Thank you for all the stories, memories, and advice Chuck. I am so grateful to have called you my friend.

Here in Louisiana we called him Charlie!  We always were at Charlie’s house.  He loved having a full house!  We would have great discussions, food, and swim!  Always interesting people at Charlie’s house!

Sorry to hear about Chuck's passing.  He will be greatly missed, such a special person, he made everyone feel special and welcomed to the neighborhood.
In my walks I was always looking forwards to stop and chat about his furry friends and the weather.  A very positive person with a big smile on his face.

Living next door to Chuck the past eleven and a half years has provided our family with a very good friend to share our lives with.  Chuck gave his dogs loving care and long walks each and every day.  His gentle consideration for his dogs, his friends and his neighbors will be remembered by each of us for years to come.  We will miss his smiles daily.

Chuck was a good friend and a member and officer of our British Car Club. We also raced with him and enjoyed his friendship.

Chuck, We were the newest neighbors on the block and you made us feel welcomed from the very beginning. We looked forward to seeing you every morning on your walk, always stopping for a chat. We got to know you well this past winter, especially during your hospital stay, and we enjoyed every story you told us. You had a life full of adventure from surfing the big waves to diving, racing cars, flying airplanes, photography. You’ve had a life most only dream of and we’re happy you shared your tales with us. You told us you wished to have a boat to sail off, and we hope that’s where you are right now. We’ll miss you, friend, and until we see you again, “Hang ten.”

We will miss the big wave and talks while Chuck was out and about and we were driving by.  Stopping close by and rolling down the windows so we could talk was always a pleasure, and as we came around the curve from our house, one of us would say "Chuck's out" which meant that we pulled over for a chat.  Race with the angels, dear friend.

Both Doug & I were very sorry to learn of Chuck's passing.  We met as neighbors in 2011.   We always enjoyed Chuck's stories of adventures from his younger years.  We enjoyed chatting while walking our pups.  Chuck was a kind man and will be missed by many in our neighborhood.  Rest in peace ...until we meet again.

Chuck, I was so sad to hear about your passing & the discomfort you have faced over the past few months.  I have such fun memories of visiting my friends Liz & Adam & meeting you many years ago. Every time I came down to Florida you always made an effort to see me or give me a ride on your golf cart.  You always had the kindest conversations with me & made me feel like you truly looked forward to see me during my visits to Florida.  You will be missed by so many people in your neighborhood that loved you like family & I will miss seeing your smiling face too. Rest high on that mountain Chuck & may God bless you in eternity. I’ve been a neighbor and friend of Chuck’s for 12 years.  I enjoyed spending time together and was glad to help out when he needed with a ride, an errand, mowing the lawn, or installing a portable air conditioner.   We went to shoot guns together and talked to my son about gun safety.  I appreciated his patience while my kids grew through the teenage years and he often came to our holiday dinners and parties.    Chuck will be missed!

   We met in September 2009 when we moved into your neighborhood and crossed paths walking our pups almost daily since then.   You quickly became an extended family member, often coming over to dinner, celebrating holidays, birthdays and graduations.  We loved stories of your race car driving, underwater diving, and airplane flying adventures.   My family and I appreciated your words of wisdom and kindness when we struggled.   We thank you for being a considerate and caring neighbor.  You are greatly missed, and as you often said, “I love ya, darlin!”

My wife and I are so very sad to learn of Chuck’s passing.  Chuck and I spent lots of time together, going to lunch every other Friday, taking him to and from hospital/doctor appointments and to pharmacies to pick up his prescriptions.  We only had approximately  4 years of friendship, but in that time we became close personal friends.   You will be sorely missed my friend, may soul Rest In Peace.
