

Born on October 14, 1943, in Joliet, Illinois, Ed was the son of the late Gonza Francis Ludden and Agnes Mary Ludden. In 1980, he moved to Lee County, Florida, where he built a new life with his family and founded Ludden Insurance, a business he owned and operated with pride and dedication for many years. Through his work, Ed earned the respect and trust of countless clients and colleagues throughout the community.
Ed married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ludden, in 1964—a true love story that spanned more than 60 years, marked by unwavering devotion and partnership.
He was also an active and engaged member of the Fort Myers community. Ed was a proud member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Fort Myers, where he generously gave his time to serve others and make a lasting difference.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Ludden; his sons Tim Ludden, Mark Ludden, and Brian Ludden; daughters-in-law Shelley Ludden and Janet Ludden; his grandchildren Kaylee, Julian, Izzy, Adrian, and Tyler; his sister Dorothy and his brother Bert. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Katherine Ludden and his sister Janet.
Ed will be remembered for his strong work ethic, sharp wit, deep love for his family, and dedication to his community. Whether through his business, service, or time spent with loved ones, Ed touched the lives of many with his kindness, strength, and steady presence.
A Celebration of Life for Ed will be hosted on Saturday, July 19, 2025 inside the Remembrance Events Center located at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 950 Chiquita Boulevard S, Cape Coral, Florida 33991, (239) 283-0540. Guests will be received for a Time of Gathering from 12:30 - 2:00 PM and all who knew Ed are encouraged to stop by at their convenience and offer personal memories and share those moments which made his life very well-lived. At 2:00 PM a Memorial Service for Ed will be Officiated by Celebrant Dennis Antoniello and will spotlight the many people and things which made his life meaningful and memorable. Immediately following this ceremony, Ed's family is providing a reception in his honor that will be casual and social, just like Ed, with refreshments and hors d'oeuvres highlighting his appreciation for hospitality.
