I played cornerback Freshman year at HHS and John would steamroll me from behind just to get a hit on whomever had the ball. Still have a scar on my right hand from his big cleat when he knocked me 
 down,jumped over me ,but that foot his was like a Bears paw,my poor hand was no match.He was a  beast on the field. He was kind, jovial person who enjoyed a prank or good laugh.

He was the kind of person you wanted to get to know better. An awesome fishing buddy, a drinking buddy, and just someone to talk to. The pandemic made it difficult to know him and now it is our loss...

Johnny was my cousin but more like a brother to me. I was lucky enough to know him and be part of his life. He will be so deeply missed by all. I’m also glad he found true love when he met Monica 

On Monday, August 31, 2020, John Thomas Kochel Jr, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at age 53.  John was born on February 9, 1967 in Joliet, Illinois to John and Diane Kochel.
He graduated from Herscher High School, he loved to play sports he was a great football player and exceled in wrestling.   He joined the United States Air Force after High School and he was stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base working on aircraft.  He was deployed overseas during the Gulf War.  
He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor.
John was preceded in death by his father John. He is survived by his mother Diane, his wife Monica, his three children, Jake, Logan, and Alex, his brothers Ron and James; William, his sisters Deanna and Raquelle, and several cousins, nieces, and a nephew.  
Cremation rites have been accorded.  No services will be held

The Old Rugged Cross

Miss him terribly, we were still honeymooners. We had so many things planned.  We weren't each others first so we were always up for trying something new.  I love you John!
