John (Ray) Weimer Jr., 97, of North Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully under the care of Vitas Hospice on Friday, February 27, 2026. Born on November 7, 1928, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved son of the late John and Grace (Johnson) Weimer. Ray lived most of his life in Connecticut, and was a graduate of the University of New Haven.
Ray built a long and respected career as a mechanical engineer, a profession that suited his sharp mind, steady hands, and unwavering dedication. His work ethic was extraordinary—something he carried with him throughout his life and passed down through generations. Those who knew him often spoke of his quiet pride, his reliability, and the deep sense of responsibility he brought to everything he touched.
In his younger years, Ray was an avid bowler and golfer, enjoying the camaraderie and competition both sports offered. Away from the lanes and fairways, he found joy in simple, meaningful moments—tinkering around the house, fixing what needed fixing, and creating what didn’t yet exist. Even after he retired to FL in 1990, he loved being busy, and he loved being useful. He volunteered in his community at Lake Fairways, where he worked with F.I.S.H., delivering medical equipment to his neighbors in need, and also bringing neighbors to their doctors appointments. John was also a member of the Lake Fairways Mens’ Club and The 90’s Club.
Above all else, Ray loved his family. Time spent with them was his greatest happiness, and he cherished every gathering, every conversation, and every shared laugh. His presence was steady and reassuring, a constant source of strength and warmth.
Ray had recently moved to an assisted living facility, where he truly flourished. He embraced each day with curiosity and enthusiasm, eager to see what activities awaited him. Whether it was a game (Wii Bowling), a craft, or a social event, he approached it with the same spirit that defined his life—engaged, grateful, and fully present.
Ray is predeceased by his first wife, Mary, in 1995, and his second wife, Diana, in 2007. He is survived by his three children, Susan M. Fuller, Nancy Loomis and her husband, Larry, and Robert Weimer and his wife, Dawn; six grandchildren, Michael, Brian, Tiffany, Danielle, Bobby and Cody; three stepsons, Tom Dodson, Peter Dodson, and Michael Dodson, as well as several extended family members and friends.
No formal services are planned at this time.
Ray leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and love. His life touched many, and his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him.
