Joyce Ann Hall, 80, a beloved longtime resident of Cape Coral, Florida, and formerly of Long Island, New York, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026. She was born August 12, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late John and Lillian (Ferlisi) Cannarella.
Joyce lived a life defined by selflessness, quiet strength, and a deep devotion to the people she loved. For 36 years, she shaped young minds as a 5th- and 6th‑grade teacher, pouring her heart into her students and leaving a legacy of curiosity, kindness, and confidence in every classroom she touched. Teaching was not just her profession—it was her calling, and she embraced it with grace and joy.
In 1968, Joyce married the love of her life, Gary, beginning a marriage filled with adventure, laughter, and unwavering partnership. Together, they traveled cross‑country on their motorcycle, embracing the freedom of the open road. Joyce never needed a destination—only the thrill of the journey and the company of the man she adored.
She found happiness in the simple, beautiful things: swimming, the beach, spontaneous outings, and traveling with her family. She cherished her dogs, delighted in every trip to Disney, and held a special affection for Donald Duck. Joyce also had a tender love for the natural world—especially turtles, dragonflies, butterflies, and pelicans, creatures that mirrored her gentle spirit.
To Joyce, family was everything. Whether they were traveling, sharing dinner, or simply taking a drive, she believed any moment was meaningful as long as they were together. She especially loved celebrating birthdays and holidays with her family, creating traditions and memories that will be treasured for generations. Her greatest joy—and her proudest accomplishment—was being called Mom and Gaga.
Joyce leaves behind a lifetime of love, memories, and the quiet but powerful impact of a life lived with generosity and heart. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Cannarella, and two grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Gary Hall; two daughters, Cindy Marchese and her husband, John, and Tammy Burke and her husband, Jeffrey; three adored grandchildren, Jeffrey, Sophia, and Ava; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Services for Joyce are being held privately.
