It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Juderve Lausis.
Lausis, lovingly known as Erve, left us on November 6, 2024, at the age of seventy one. He was born in Hinche, Haiti, on October 9, 1953, to Louisincia St. Lovis and Clexca Lausis. He was one of eight children, though many of his siblings preceded him in death. Erve grew up under the care of his grandmother, as he was separated from his mother at an early age. At the age of 14, life’s struggles forced him to become independent. He balanced work and school but, unfortunately, had to leave school in the 9th grade to support himself as a bus driver.
In 1981, Erve met the love of his life, Paulna Gabriel, in the town of St. Louis Du Nord. Their love story blossomed quickly, and just seven months later, on October 5th, they were married. Although their journey together was fraught with challenges, including Erve’s illness that began 18 days into their marriage, Paulna stood by him with unwavering devotion. They were married for 42 years and raised 10 children together, a testament to their strength and love. Erve embraced Paulna’s son, Paulymcha, as his own, treating him with the same love and care he gave to all his children.
Erve’s dedication extended beyond his family. He was a respected leader and a man of many talents. He served as the director of Teleco for 10 years and worked as a civil state officer in St. Louis Du Nord. He was also an entrepreneur, running his own business, Water Culligan. A deeply spiritual man, Erve was a Bible school teacher and a devoted member of Jerusalem Celeste Church. He had a passion for research and spent countless hours reading the Bible, always seeking God's face for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
Erve is preceded in death by his parents and many of his siblings. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Paulna Gabriel Lausis, and his children: Paulymcha, Erventha, Fritznel, Gephte, Cabner, Gracieuse, Emerson, Hussein, Nehemie, Nahomie, and Clena. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, each of whom brought joy and love into his life: Abimael, Abigaelle, Nanoune, Ruth, Keren, Kathe-Leina, Ketsia, Jayden, Suze, Paulymcha Jr., and Keïsha, whose presence will forever remind us of his enduring legacy and the family he built with so much care.
Erve was a man who loved life and was loved by all who knew him. His warmth, wisdom, and kindness touched the lives of many, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Though we will never see him again, we take comfort in the courage and strength he instilled in us. Erve was a phenomenal father, a devoted husband, and a friend to all. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
Rest in Heaven, Pa. You will always be in our hearts.
