Leonie Laplanche Sicard, known to most as Man Ninie, was born on December 23rd, 1928 in Pestel, Haiti. She was the daughter of Etienne and Hermine Laplanche, where she spent her teenage years until she met the love of her life our father Anthony Sicard.
Man Ninie, was considered by many an angel, a woman who devoted her entire life to her family, her husband, and especially her children. She was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Ninie was the quintessential home maker with an open heart and home for anyone seeking love, care, or refuge, qualities she consistently instilled in her family.
Man Ninie believed in giving and sharing, her passion was her church, she was devout in her faith and it was the foundation of her daily existence where she found the strength she needed to push forward and pray for her loved ones. Her needs took a back seat to that of the ones she loved most, she would sacrifice her life for her children, she was not only a great mother, she was a friend, and confidante.
Man Ninie and Anthony had 7 children, Henry, Patrick, Margareth , Yolaine, Serge, Raynold, and Michelle Aurore, no small feat, at times we often wondered how she managed to provide for them, however she always believed that her creator had and will always provide for her family even in the darkest of moments. Despite the many challenges and obstacles life might have presented, she always managed to keep her head high and spent her entire life providing her kids with the tools and lessons that all the money in the world could never afford, the value and importance of character, hard work, faith, education, and family, all essential skills and the foundation necessary to go on to find and conquer success in their individual lives.
In 1984 she joined her children in the United States where she devoted her time in the upbringing of her grandchildren, Monique, Kristina, Kimberly, Gary Jr, Alan, Alisha, Soraya, Elizabeth, Michael, Lawrence, Christian, and Gregory. She was also blessed to have 4 great grandchildren, Deshon, Devin, Desmond, and Madison and one great great grandchild Aidan.
Unfortunately, her health started to decline due to old age, and illness, however she was fortunate enough to have her children by her side at every waking moment. One could say that her works were fruitful, she had the opportunity to see her family come full circle and achieve the dreams she prayed on.
On Sunday November, 25th 2018, Man Ninie was taken away from us all, I must say that she left this world peacefully, to join her 7 siblings, as the last of the Laplanche Siblings. She is survived by 4 generations of children. She was beloved by all and will be missed by many including a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, extended families and friends.
Finally Man Ninie was ready to meet her creator as she so often said. As we are in grief as even the expected comes unexpectedly. Her smile will shine down bright today as Man Ninie is doing what she did and loved best, proudly watching over all of her beautiful family and friends.
Visitation will take place Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 1:00 pm at Coral Ridge Funeral Home with Entombment to follow at Coral Ridge Cemetery.
