
sherry, I am so very sorry to hear that Michael has passed.  always enjoyed talking to him with the answering service.   He was always so nice.  

Mike was a good friend and fellow board member at Kingsway who would go above and beyond the calling to bless others. His wife, Sherry, and his children, Jason and Rachel and their families are not only a testament but a legacy that will continue for generations to come. The love of Jesus truly shined through him and we are all the better for it. Until we meet again. 

Sherry, meeting you and Michael was a tremendous honor. It became evident immediately,  that both of your love for your Heavenly Father was first and foremost in your lives, and  your family second.  I am shocked and saddened to hear of his passing.  Hold fast to God's loving hand and let him sustain you during this time.  My Pastor always tells us  we don't lose anyone to death, he always says "how can you lose  someone when you know where they are going."  Praise God, I am sure you know where Michael is going.   My thoughts and prayers will be with you in days to come.

Mike was a great friend of mine back in the day. He was also a friend to Rosemary and introduced me to her in 1969. Rosemary and I have been together ever since. I will think of him often.

Mike was a true friend, mentor, and brother in Christ and I will miss him.  I will miss his humor and his passion for Jesus.  Always a family man, he would ask me every time we spoke if I was treating my wife right.  He would say: "Don't make me come up there and straighten you out."  He bragged about his kids and grand kids nonstop.  "Jason was always destined to be a champion among men..."  "Rachel is as strong and smart as she is beautiful..."  And he loved his bride.  He loved Sherry.  He used to tell me he thought he married the most beautiful woman in the world.  Mike was the kind of friend that refused to allow us to play cards because it would distract our friendship from conversation.  He always asked how "I was really doing," and he wouldn't settle for a surface answer.  He was the kind of friend that loved to eat with people and laugh with people.  He was generous and genuine.  He took young men under his wing and inspired them to be better.  

I am so sorry for your loss.  This world was a brighter place because of Mike Lucas.  

My deepest condolences for your loss.  Michael was an outstanding kind man and will be truly missed.  He loved his family dearly.  May this very difficult time be eased with fond happy memories. I will always remember his great smile and his kindness.  May he rest in peace.  My thoughts, prayers and love to all.

Michael John Lucas was born to the late Michael J. Lucas, Sr. and Irene Lucas.

Michael married the love of his life, Sherry May Lucas (Stapp). 

In addition to his loving wife Sherry, Michael is survived by: his son Jason M. Lucas, wife Candace Lucas, and grandchildren Jackson (11) and Laila (9), of Placida, Florida; daughter Rachel C. Chong-You (Lucas), her husband Nigel Chong-You, and their children Mia (10), Cole (9), Aria (6), and Asher (2), of Gainesville, Florida; his sister Helen Lucas of Ballston Spa, NY; his sister Joan Alessi and husband Chris Alessi of Castleton, VT; and his brother Richard Lucas, of Brandon, FL.
