Dick was my older brother by two years. As a boy he was always busy, fishing, swimming, baseball, ice skating, hockey, boy scouts, camping, hunting, a newspaper route, then later, the A&P store, college, then back to the A&P store.When Dick was just 15, our father died and Dick grew up fast, taking over the role of man of the house. He did it without complaint. When he met Penny, he fell hard, married soon after, and was always devoted to both her and his boys. He was a fun loving man of integrity. I was proud to call him my brother. He will leave a hole in all of our lives. Penny, Steve and I are so stinking proud of how you cared for Dick throughout his long struggle with Alzheimer's. It was a scary business, but there you were in the middle of it all, just doing your thing...being strong and brave and beautiful, honoring those vows, in sickness and in health, to the end, a legacy that few obtain.
