It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Drotos, affectionately known to many as "Big Ron / Pops," who left this world peacefully Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the age of 68. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, on May 2, 1957, Ron was the beloved son of Wahneeda and Ernest Drotos, who have since predeceased him.
Ronald's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and boundless love. For over 40 years, he worked diligently as a glazer, a career through which he touched countless lives with his skillful hands and warm heart. His craftsmanship was not only evident in commercial and residential glass work he installed, but also in the friendships he built and the lives he enriched along the way. Beyond his professional pursuits, Ron found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially when he was out on the water. His love for fishing was both a hobby and a passion, providing him with countless hours of peace and reflection. Whether casting a line from his boat or simply enjoying the serenity of the water, Ron found happiness in nature's embrace.
To his family, Ron was a pillar of strength and a source of endless love. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 42 years, Fran Drotos, who stood by his side in life's every adventure. His legacy lives on through his cherished children: Jennifer Drotos, Dustin Drotos, and Brittany Hamilton, along with her husband, Herbert Hamilton. His sister, Elaine Drotos, also survives him, and together they shared a bond that only siblings can understand.
Ron was a man whose heart was as vast as the waters he loved. Known for his affable nature and genuine kindness, he was truly everyone's friend. His laughter, warmth, and generosity touched all who knew him, creating countless memories that will be treasured forever.
A visitation will be held at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 950 Chiquita Blvd. S, Cape Coral, FL 33991, on April 11th from 10 - 12pm, followed by a funeral service and burial at Coral Ridge Cemetery at 1pm. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Ron are invited to join together to honor and remember a life well-lived.
As we gather to celebrate Ron's life, let us carry forward his legacy of love, friendship, and the simple joys that he cherished. Though he may have cast his last line, the ripples of his kindness will continue to touch the shores of our hearts forever.
