Thomas Leland Klingensmith, 90, of North Fort Myers, FL left this world to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, November 3rd, 2018 at home with his family. He was born on December 1st, 1927 in New Castle, PA and was the son of the late Albert H. & Myrtle I. (Remley) Klingensmith.
Thomas and Shirley moved the family to Lee County, FL in 1960 and have since been residents. He was all about family and his Christian faith.
Thomas served the Lord at First Baptist Church of Cape Coral as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher for many years. He led a Christian singing group called the Scriptones. He also served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Tropic Isles Baptist Church. He was also leader in the Boy Scouts of America.
Thomas served his country in the United States Navy as a Seaman. He was a member of the American Legions.
He was a Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service for over 40 years both here and in New Castle, PA.
Thomas is survived by his wife Shirley Ann (Patterson) Klingensmith of 70 years. His sons, Alan Lee Klingensmith (Janice), Kit Albert Klingensmith (Jodie), Jeffrey Lynd Klingensmith (Christal), Dan Wayne Klingensmith (Debby) and Thomas Scott Klingensmith (Carrie). His only daughter Kathy Jo Small (Perry). His grandchildren Tracy Nicole Cameron (Jeremy), Amelia Lynd Perry (Justin), Tyler Wayne Small (Aubrey), Chase Cody Klingensmith, Colton Lee Klingensmith, Charlene Lauren Manchester (Frank), Stephanie Beryl Yeargin (Wes), Cortney Michele Rice (Jake), Cory Leland Klingensmith, Jeffrey Tucker Klingensmith, Thomas Leland Klingensmith II, Jacob Alexander Klingensmith, Jordan Leigh Klingensmith, Jenna Rae Klingensmith, Spencer James Klingensmith, Chad Alan Klingensmith and Ryan Thomas Klingensmith. His great grandchildren Noah Thomas Perry, Cora Grace Perry, Lillian Alice Cameron, Lana Faith Cameron, Emma Rose Cameron and Lucas Scott Cameron. And his brother Richard Klingensmith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant son and his brother John Allan “Jack” Klingensmith.
Funeral Services for Thomas will be held Saturday, November 10th at 1:00PM at Coral Ridge Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1630 SW Pine Island Road, Cape Coral. Prior to the service, the family will receive visitors between 11:00AM and 1:00PM.
Following the service there will be a celebration of life at the home of Kit & Jodie Klingensmith.
