Violet was born on May 2, 1928, in Glendale, Illinois. After spending some years in St. Charles, she and her husband, Bob, made a home for their family in Florida. They resided in Lake Wales, St. James City, and finally, South Fort Myers, where Violet spent the last thirty years as a widow.
Violet was an avid reader, gardener and talker. She loved recounting stories of her past and of those from books. She never forgot a plot, title or author’s name. She was quick-witted and loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Gary Scott Eckstrom of Long Beach California; sister, Vivian Ruth Blades of Cape Coral, Florida; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Eckstrom; son, Robin Keith Eckstrom; parents, Raymond and Annie Schumaker; and two sisters, Gladys (Herman) Allen and Chloe (Carl) Collie.
A 1pm graveside service will be held Friday, October 12th at Coral Ridge Cemetery, Cape Coral, Florida.
