

Arthur Edward Stockton was born on October 15, 1924 in Wordsworth, Saskatchewan. He grew up in Wordsworth, completed high school in Carlyle and attended Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Toronto. In 1946, he and his older brother, Russell, opened Stockton’s Electric in Carlyle where they remained in business until 1992. Ed married Joyce Redman in 1948 and they had two children, Jerri Lynn and Ted. Joyce and Eddie lived in Carlyle until Joyce’s early death in 1982. After
Joyce’s death, Ed and companion, Shirley Kells, traveled and spent many days at the cabin on Kenosee Lake and camping in the 5th wheel until her passing. Eddie was proud of Carlyle and his family, he documented many important events in the area’s history as well as the family history through his videos and pictures. He had shelves of library-like organized videotapes of every family gathering, sporting event, dance competition, etc. He has had some of his pictures published
in the area history books as well. Photography was one of his passions.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Jerri Lynn (Ian) Laird, Wawota. Son, Ted, Carlyle. Grandchildren, Tyler (Jocelyn) Laird, Megan (Ryan) Wadham & Allison Laird (Dominic). Great-grandchildren, Bradyn & Gabriel Wadham, Liam Laird. Sister, Marilyn (Ross) Truscott, Calgary. Sister-in-law, Alyce Stockton, Carlyle. Predeceased by his wife Joyce. Brother, Russell. Sister, Jean Nafe. Brother-in-law, Merv Nafe.
Memorial Services: 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 10, 2010 from the Carlyle United Church with The Reverend John Bullas officiating. Interment in Glen Morris Cemetery, Carlyle.
